Read on to know more about the latest interior design tips that you can use in 2022…
1. Wallpaper is a Major Trend
Wallpaper is one of the key trends that has been around for a long time. Today, consumers are not afraid to explore unusual decorating ideas, and this trend is just as exciting for interior designers. Wallpaper designs are increasingly bold and creative, from floral to geometric patterns and animal motifs to tropical prints. With advances in printing technology, wallpaper styles are continually getting more interesting, and more substrates are available than ever before.
Wallpapers allow homeowners to make bold choices of color and pattern without overwhelming a room. In addition, natural-inspired schemes keep the room calming. While the use of colorful and geometric patterns is widespread, wallpaper has become more affordable and versatile with the help of new printing techniques. One of the most comforting interior design tips in wallpaper is to take care of the texture before you put them on wall.
2. Vibrant Colors are Making a Comeback
With the resurgence of vibrant color in modern interior design, it makes sense to incorporate this trend into your home decor. The simplicity of white furnishings, especially those in the kitchen, can feel drab and dull. Adding some color will update your rooms and help you achieve that “just right” look. And remember, you don’t need to be a professional to make a color choice for your home. Just follow these fantastic and new home decor trends in 2022 for your home.
Try using rich jewel tones for your walls for a bold color statement. Interior decor experts at Sherwin-Williams recommend using rich colors with pops of vibrant accents. They set the stage for a moody and uplifting color scheme. You can consult a nearby interior designer for home décor and a professional lawn mowing company for all your outdoor needs.
3. Curvy Furniture
One of the hottest home decor and design trends this spring is curved furniture. Its rounded edges add movement and character to a room, while a round coffee table is ideal for relaxing in a living room. You can create a modern, elegant look in your home by mixing a rounded coffee table with a straight side table. Choosing bold colors and patterns will highlight the curved items and give the room a unique look.
Curved furniture became popular during the early 70s as designers experimented with modern techniques and materials. These days, curves are making a comeback after a period of minimalism. If you’ve been avoiding furniture with rounded edges, you might want to experiment with the trend. Curvy pieces of furniture can look great in any room, and they can be added to any existing theme.
4. Pattern Mixing
While you might be tempted to add the same pattern throughout your home, pattern mixing is not that simple. Reach out for some professional guidance as it takes a certain skill to pull it off. While you can hire professionals to help you with this, you can also try your hand at pattern mixing yourself if you know the golden rules. Remember that you want to create a balance between the patterns. If they are too close together, your room will appear too busy and chaotic. In addition, you need to keep in mind the color scheme.
Mixing patterns can be overwhelming, so make sure you have a harmonious color scheme. It is also essential to mix patterns of different sizes since bigger ones will pop up against smaller ones, while small ones will provide a place to rest your eyes. While working on patterns for your interior, it’s highly recommended to seek out professional help from an interior designer for the best results.
5. Minimalistic Home Decor
Minimalist and new home decor trends in 2022 are all about reducing the amount of hardware used and adding functional pieces that support the design concept. For example, a wooden tray placed on a bench can serve as a console table and a comfortable seat when entertaining guests. Similarly, coffee tables with colored legs and footstools in geometric shapes are excellent examples of multifunctional pieces. These items are often a great way to create a minimalist look without sacrificing the room’s look.
Zen philosophy has a significant impact on the interior design industry. It is mainly found in governs many countries in Asia. The limited square footage and apartment spaces of these countries forced their interior designers to be creative and develop the best ways to improve the functionality and comfort of their homes. In other words, they made their homes look spacious and comfortable without too much ornamentation.
6. Natural & Raw Landscape Elements
The new landscaping trend is a natural and raw look with fine detailing. Rustic-looking landscape designs look particularly beautiful, with retaining walls built from rough stones around well-maintained grass. Use paver stones in uneven shapes and plants with texture to add color and interest to your landscape. 7. Bringing Nature into the Home
Bringing nature into your home doesn’t just mean buying house plants. Use natural materials and textures to create a serene retreat. Raw materials are breathable and soft to touch. And you can also try adding a large skylight to your kitchen or living room and let nature be an indispensable part of your home design.
Incorporating indoor plants is the obvious way to embrace biophilic design. Let’s talk about furniture… yes! Although for many people it may sound like a boring or unfocused topic at first, the most obvious reality is that it can be an interesting, complex home interior topic, and more relevant than anyone might think.
When we think, for example, of the importance that some designs have had, such as the Togo sofa, which over time not only became one of the best-selling and most requested sofas in history, but also a very popular and iconic product among interior designers and users in general, we can begin to understand why making a correct selection of furniture can be the key between a boring layout and one that’s really appealing, memorable, and even with a lot of art and a high sense of aesthetics.
The legacy and relevance of modernism have been on the table for a long time, especially the so-called “Mid-Century Modern”, which covers some decades in the middle of the last century. During those years, some of the most acclaimed pieces of furniture came into the market; products that would soon become symbols of the transformation that the world was undergoing in many of its areas.
Why They Became Iconic Designs?
People wanted to adapt the spaces in which they spent their daily lives to something much more like their lifestyle and, in that regard, furniture was one of the priorities. Practicality, high functionality, resistant and durable materials, and an aesthetic sense based on simplicity and minimalism led the way towards a wide catalog of pieces that would even break paradigms, archetypes, and styles within the world of furniture design.
The Flag Halyard Chair by Hans Wegner, the Bellini sofa by Mario Bellini, the Egg Chair by Arne Jacobsen, the Tulip tables by Eero Saarinen, the Barcelona chair by Lilly Reich y Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and even some pieces outside the “furniture” category, such as the Arco lamp by the Castiglioni brothers became essential icons that set standards for their originality, innovation, and aesthetics in line with the most up-to-date trends and preferences for a home interior.
It was more and more common to find this type of product in homes, office buildings, and even waiting rooms, not only because people requested them more frequently, but also because professional interior designers increasingly recognized their value and the vast possibilities they offer.
The Cornerstone Of Your Home Interior Decor
Let’s take a moment to admire the Shell chair by Hans Wegner… beautiful, isn’t it? And if that’s not enough, it looks amazing from almost any angle, and you can integrate it into almost any modern environment with the confidence that it will add visual and functional value.
This original creation with an authentic spirit is one of the many pieces that are part of this great Dane’s collection and, without a doubt, one of his most famous products. However, you should know that, in fact, it was a design ahead of its time. Its launch dates back to 1963, but its creation process began in 1948 when Wegner began to experiment with laminated wood, a material that would allow him to deliver never seen before designs.
However, although the piece was well received by specialized critics during its launch, the truth is that it wasn’t exactly a sales phenomenon. Consumers, in general, weren’t very familiar with this type of bold aesthetic and weren’t entirely sure how it would work in their spaces, both in an aesthetic and functional sense.
Despite that initial disparagement, several decades later the chair was “revived” by the Carl Hansen & Son furniture company in 1997, this time with very different results. Today, it’s common to find its presence in all kinds of modern decors, and it’s one of the best-selling models in any modern furniture store. A conclusive proof that, when something is destined to succeed in a big way, it will do it regardless of any inconvenience, huh?
Iconic Pieces Have a Lot To Give You!
Recognizing the indisputable value of iconic furniture is essential to generate successful home interior or office layouts, which not only adapt correctly to the users’ lifestyle but also reflect their personality and tastes through their colors, shapes, and materials. The possibilities are almost endless when you begin to discover the huge collection of legendary pieces that the great geniuses of the last century bequeathed to us, many of which even inspired some of the most current designs you can find.
High-quality pieces of furniture can mean many things: part of the family heirloom, a meaningful gift, an award for personal effort, companions in life, and gain sentimental value over the years, as many of them can even appear in photographs of memorable moments with family and friends. Never underestimate the power and value of this type of piece and when your big moment comes to select the ones that will become part of your life and your spaces, always remember: they are the life of the party!

“It’s truly amazing how much technology has changed our lives in the last 20 years.
I was designing my new office recently and looked around for some built in desk inspiration. Then it hit me. You don’t need all kinds of storage cabinets anymore. Everything is stored digitally. Ok, that’s an overstatement but you only need a fraction to office storage space compared even 10 years ago.
We had all kinds of drawers for documents, cupboards for CDs, cabinets for extra wiring, additional accessories and components and remember book shelves?
So here’s the crazy thing…
We bought a new house and there was an area that would make the perfect office with built-in cabinets. I love that look and I knew just how it should be designed so it would blend into the space as if it had been built with the house.
Built in Bookcase on desk
I remembered the Billy Bookcase cabinets from IKEA that I had used once before in another home. I just needed to do a little customization and the overall project would cost under $1000.00.
A Desk Built in Using Billy Bookcases
The Perfect IKEA Hack
We moved in, I ordered the materials and built it in a weekend. I drilled holes to pass wires through, installed some nice LED under cabinet lighting and hooked up all the electronics. I finished it off with some crown moulding and voila, it turned out beautifully.
Then it was time to store all my stuff in the cupboards. Two months later I don’t have nearly enough office stuff to fill those cupboards.
They look great and they will gradually be filled household items. I guess I should be glad I have extra space to put junk when it comes. I’m ready for it.
Under $1000 for products used (no affiliate links here):
2 x Billy Bookcase Oxberg (IKEA)
2 x Billy Extention(IKEA)
1 x Linnmon Desktop $9.99 (IKEA)
1 x shelf (Home Depot) (cross piece to mount lights on)
8 x cabinet knobs (Home Depot)
3 x under cabinet lights with wireless remote (Home Depot)
1 x crown moulding (Home Depot)
I guess my message here is, “plan ahead”. I love the way it turned out but if I had given more thought about what I really needed to store, I might have designed it differently. For instance I could have use more open shelves making it more decorative and less functional.
Ikea hacks are simply great little ways to save money at one of their most well-known store, while making your home decor ideas come to life. Have you noticed how inexpensive Ikea furniture is? Not only do they have beautiful furniture, but the prices are reasonable and you are sure to find exactly what you are looking for without breaking the bank.
